Boats for rent in Puerto Columbia

Part VII: Puerto Columbia

After one final, hellish bus ride, the five of us who had remained in Mérida rendezvoused with the rest of the group in a little seaside town called Puerto Columbia. Our goal in this town was a noble one: relax and enjoy our last couple days on the beach before heading back to reality and a new semester. It was essentially a small tourist town with a few nice beaches nearby. However, it was only a few hours from Caracas, so we didn't have the specter of a long bus ride hanging over our heads. We played in the surf and had a bonfire on the beach under a full moon to celebrate our trip. After that, it was back to Caracas for the flight home.

All in all, it was an incredible trip. I became a lot more confident in speaking Spanish, met some great people, made some great friends, and removed the shroud of mystery from one more place on the map. Thanks to Rick and UAS for allowing me the opportunity.
